Thinking Ahead to Intersession-2008!

Information about Family Trips

For those of us who have difficulty planning a week in advance, itÕs no more than an idle amusement to imagine what we might be doing a semester from now.  But we know that many NDB Parents are far more organized than we are and begin making arrangements for family trips and adventures way ahead of time.  So if your family is thinking about using Intersession Week of the 2007-2008 academic year as an opportunity to create closer intra-familial connections, to explore exotic locales, and to experience aspects of life that can only be encountered out in the Ôreal worldÕ, then please take these factors into consideration as you make your plans.

1)    Intersession will take place during PresidentsÕ Day week of the spring semester of 2008.

2)    No student may avail herself of the Family Trips option twice.  Intersession is not intended to be an excuse for a vacation!  We would always prefer that students enroll in school-based Intersession courses but permit them to go on a Family Trip once during their four years as a convenience for their families.

3)    Family Trip excursions need to be out of the area and must cover at least four days.  Students who will be engaging in local or part-time activities can enroll in Intersession courses that dovetail with their outside plans.

4)    Photo-journals documenting the Family Trip must be submitted by each student upon her return to Ms. Hutchins who will provide you with guidelines ahead of time.

The mission of the Intersession Program is to provide students with educational experiences not usually found in a classroom setting.  It is also an opportunity for faculty and students to share and/or explore mutual interests on or off campus and for students and staff to create the kinds of new connections that strengthen and improve our community.

Further information about this program will be available on the NDB website this semester, and will be provided to students through advisories.
