Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How are financial aid decisions made?
Once all required documentation is submitted to PSAS and Notre Dame High School, including the current year Federal Income Tax Return, recommendations for tuition assistance will be based on the report from the Private School Aid Service, tax return, and amount of funds available that year for financial support. The amount of financial aid awarded varies from year to year. Families received assistance totaling $898,000 for the 2010 – 2011 school year.

Are financial aid awards renewed annually?
No. Applications must be submitted annually with current information in order for a family to be eligible for assistance each year.

How am I assured that my application is handled in a confidential manner?
Reports generated from Private School Aid Service for financial aid are mailed directly to the Finance Office. In addition, completed documents are kept only in Finance Office files. When recommendations are submitted to the Finance Committee, all names are withheld.

What if I missed the PSAS deadline?
Meeting all deadlines is critical. Families applying for financial aid should plan to file their tax returns early. Do not wait until your daughter is admitted to apply for financial aid. As there is a limited amount of funds to disburse, late applicants may find there is no financial aid available.

If we are divorced or separated, do both parents need to apply for financial aid?
Yes. Both parents need to submit financial aid forms and tax information.
