In fulfilling our mission of being in service to the Notre Dame community, we strive to encourage and empower our students to be servant leaders. Through WAVE and Retreat Leadership, we encourage students to take the gifts and talents they already possess and expand them in hopes of serving our school, local and global community.
The Worship, Advocate, Volunteer, and Empower Team, known as WAVE, is made up of a Service Team and a Liturgy Team. freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors are all encouraged to take part in WAVE throughout the year.
The WAVE Liturgy Team creatively plans and coordinates our school's liturgies and prayer services to make them engaging and youth-oriented. The WAVE Liturgy Team also helps to promote the spirituality of the school by raising awareness of Lent, Advent, and other special religious seasons and holidays of all faiths.
The WAVE Service Team promotes service and social justice in the school community, and regularly participates in group service projects together. Projects include the Gift Drive, Food Drive, Walk for Justice, Penny Wars, and many other service and social justice projects created by the group members.
WAVE’s core leadership team is made up of juniors and seniors who are a part of the Ministry, Leadership, and Service class. During class time, the core leaders collaborate the current WAVE projects and tasks. Students must apply and be accepted into this class.
The Retreat Leadership Team consists of juniors and seniors who actively take part in planning and leading retreats for freshmen and sophomores. Students must apply and be accepted for the Retreat Leadership Team. We begin the semester with an overnight retreat experience centered around team building and servant leadership development. In the Retreat Leadership class, students learn how to plan and lead retreats and rituals and have the opportunity to grow in their own spiritual journey.
