Motown 'til Midnight is fast approaching!

Are you ready for a brand new beat?  Then please take this opportunity to log onto to our event website to check out some of the fabulous live and silent auction items that will be offered throughout the evening on Saturday, February 20. Please RSVP online to take advantage of our Early Bird savings ticket price of only $75 per person.

This Auction is the largest fundraiser for Notre Dame High School.  Your support, either by attending the auction, bidding on auction items, donating to the auction, purchasing raffle tickets, advertising in our program and volunteering for the event, is critical to its success.   Please take a moment to consider how you can help!

If you want to donate an item, advertise in the auction catalog or sponsor the auction, click here.

Extra Auction Donor Solicitation letters and forms are available on the bench outside of Room 105.

Donation Solicitation Letter

Volunteers Needed!

Can you lend a hand?  A donation of your time is equally valuable to the success of the auction!  Volunteers are needed for packaging silent auction items at school on weekends beginning on January 23.   Volunteers will also be needed to set up and decorate at the hotel on Friday, February 19 and to provide assistance during the event on February 20 including greeting and registering guests, supervising the silent auction tables, and checking out guests at the end of the evening.  Contact Shelley Pavela, Auction Volunteer Coordinator, at sfpavela@gmail.com if you are interested.  Shelley or the appropriate Auction committee chair will also be contacting those who have already volunteered to help in the next week.  Thanks for your support!

IT'S RAFFLE TIME!

GolfBannerEvery year, in conjunction with our annual auction/dinner fundraiser, our students hold a raffle. This year's event, Motown 'til Midnight, will be held on February 20th. The proceeds of this raffle go back to our school for needed NDB projects and scholarships. Each student is asked to sell a minimum of two books of tickets which is outlined in the student/parent handbook.

Like last year, tickets are $10 a piece or $100 for a book of tickets (12 tickets). The winning tickets will be pulled the night of the auction (you do not need to be present to win). The student who sells the First Place winning ticket will also get a very nice prize.

RAFFLE PRIZES:
First Place Prize: $15,000
Second Place Prize: $3,000
Third Place Prize: $1,000

Your daughter will be receiving raffle instructions and her two ticket books on Friday, January 29 during her advisory class.  Incentive awards will be given during the next three weeks to all students who turn in ticket sales.

Additional tickets can be obtained in the Events / Development Department through Denise Severi or Julie Clemens, or by contacting Ronele McCurdy or Liza Vernazza, Class of 2010 parents and Raffle Committee Co-Chairs.

We appreciate your support in helping us make this year's raffle a big success.

Fund-a-Need

The fund-a-need auction item will be designated for classroom painting! The fund-a-need program offers all potential donors to bid at various amounts. We will produce a video to showcase before and after classrooms (thanks to the Levine brothers!). We will be offering one-year naming opportunities for the classroom sponsorships, and groups of bidders can join together. More information will be forthcoming in the next few weeks.

For hard copies of these Financial Aid forms, please contact the Business office at 650-595-1913, ext. 230.  Please note that you have to apply for financial aid annually for eligibility.

All forms must be received by February 5, 2010.

The Father-Daughter Dance is right around the corner.

Friday, February 26, 2010
7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

GolfBannerHey Dads!  The Father-Daughter Dance is right around the corner.  This is always a fun event!  Tickets are $25 per dad/daughter couple and will be on sale, through the Notre Dame website, beginning February 1.   Moms, we need your help too!  We need moms for hospitality, baked goods, decorating, setup, and cleanup.  Please contact Theresa Vallez-Kelly if you would like to help at tvallez@ndhsb.org.

Please remind your daughter to keep her Scheduling Meeting with her counselor.

From late January through mid-March, all students currently in grades 9, 10, and 11 will meet individually with their counselors to schedule the courses that they will take next year.  At these meetings, the counselors will discuss future placement in light of past academic performance. (Placement, determined by current teachers, is based on students' first semester grades).  We also discuss graduation requirements and plans for college.  Students are encouraged to undertake as challenging a curriculum as they can without over-burdening themselves and to consider building the kind of solid extracurricular resume that will help them in their college application process.

Actual school and student schedules are not constructed until much later in the year: During this process, we will be entering students' course requests.  If you would like to review your daughter's options, please access our Course Catalog online through the NDB website.

Your daughter will bring home her Student Course Request form for you to review and sign. If you have any questions about your daughter's placement, please contact her counselor.

Annual Fund Phone-a-thon Underway
By Julie Clemens, Director of Institutional Advancement

This week volunteers from the Board of Directors and Institutional Advancement Committee began calling parents who have not made a gift to this year's Annual Fund. Many of you made a pledge to send in a contribution right away and made the volunteers happy. Many a "WooHoo!" was heard down the second floor hallway! When our "pledgers" of this week's calls make their contribution our participation rate will go up to 30%.

GolfBannerThe Annual Fund supplies the critical resources that bridge the gap between the actual cost of educating a girl at Notre Dame and the tuition charged.  Tuition will only cover 87% of this year's operating budget - a difference of over $2,207 per student. Your contributions ensure that NDB can retain our talented and dedicated faculty, college-preparatory curriculum, and co-curricular and extracurricular programs that give each girl the opportunity to excel at her individual talents.

Please remember that our goal of $775,000 includes gifts from foundations, alumnae, board members, faculty and staff, and the broader community in addition to parent gifts.

The achievement of our goals helps us fulfill our mission - our promise - to each and every NDB student to give her opportunity, challenge her capacity, and nurture her growth.

Thank you!

The Phone-a-thon will continue next week. So, if you want to avoid the phone call, you can download the pledge form to send in your pledge or gift.

If you would like to discuss making a contribution or find out ways to make your gift, please contact me at 650.595.1913, ext. 370, or jclemens@ndhsb.org.
