From the Desk of the Assistant Principal
Dear Parents,
A few years ago, we established a policy
that students are not to park in the neighborhood under any circumstances. Our Principal and School Resource Officer also meet regularly with our
neighbors in order to maintain positive relationships.
In the past, we have asked parents not to drop off or pick up students in
the neighborhood. Last week, we received an urgent letter from one of our
neighbors asking for us to again remind you not to pick up or drop off in the
neighborhood.
Her letter addresses parents pulling up and parking by fire
hydrants, blocking driveways, and idling engines for 10-20 minutes while
waiting for their daughters. Our students have been very cooperative in
helping us maintain good relationships with our neighbors and are reminded when
necessary. We are asking that you do the same. Parents are not to
drop off or pick up students in the neighborhood. If parents are
concerned about dealing with a high volume of traffic in the parking lot, we
suggest you avoid this by dropping off earlier and picking up later on the
school grounds. Anytime that we need to upgrade something on campus or
address a building issue, we need the cooperation of our neighbors in order to implement our plan. If our relations with our neighbors are strained,
we cannot move forward. Hence, we are asking again that parents comply with
our requests and not drop off or pick up your daughter in the neighborhood.
Please use our facility to do this. We have addressed this with our
School Resource Officer as well. We would prefer not to ask the Belmont
Police Department to patrol the area to ensure that parents are cooperating.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us to maintain good
relationships with our neighbors, just as you would desire with your neighbors.
Regards,
Carolyn Hutchins Assistant Principal Notre Dame High School |

Final Examination Schedule Review Days
Final Examinations begin on Tuesday, May 25 - Friday, May 28, 2010! Please refer the Parent Student Handbook for all policies regarding Final Examinations (pp. 25-26) As we did for first semester, we hope our students take advantage of attending the optional student study day on Monday, May 24 as teachers will provide time for class tutoring. This day is especially good for students to also gather with friends to form study partners in preparation for final examinations. The day ends for students at 12:00 p.m. We are asking that all students leave campus by 12:30 since there will be no supervision available for them. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
Remember: May 24 is optional attendance for students! For the final exam schedule and information on Review Days and Faculty Work Day / Student Study Day, please click here. |

NDB Acdemic Awards Celebration
Congratulations to all award recipients! We celebrated the 2010 Academic Awards
Celebration this year on Wednesday, May 19 in the Moore Pavilion. We
want to congratulate recipients again for all of their achievements over the course
of this academic year. In addition to senior awards, honors, and
college recognitions, the Curriculum Council established two distinct
department awards designed to recognize student effort and achievement.
The awards were: The Outstanding Achievement Award and The
Department Award. The Outstanding Achievement Award was given to
the student who had excelled in her courses by maintaining an excellent GPA,
had demonstrated interest in the subject area, and had gone above and beyond in
her effort and participation in the course. The Department Award recognized the student who had made significant improvement
in the class. She distinguished herself through effort, participation, and a
unique contribution to the course. Each department selected a minimum of
two students per course and per grade level to be awarded at the Academic Awards
Celebration. Students who had earned either The Outstanding
Achievement Award or The Department Award had the unanimous vote and support
of each department member. This is truly a magnificent achievement.

Nothing gives me greater pride in
the accomplishment of our students than congratulating seniors on their acceptances into college and universities

schools depends on many factors not the least of which is cost. However, having
achieved admission into excellent schools such as these is in itself the result
of excellent and competitive
