Grade Point Average/Class Rank

Notre Dame High School weights students’ grade point averages and class ranks in order to acknowledge and report the efforts of students in Honors and Advanced Placement Courses.  Grades in all Honors and Advanced Placement Courses taken in Grades 9-12 receive one bonus point in the grade point calculation.  College courses taken concurrently (Grades 9-12) or during the summer (Grades 9-11) will receive the bonus point.

Academic Probation

Notre Dame High School is first and foremost a Catholic college preparatory institution. Because a grade of “D” is not a college-recommending grade, a student is placed on academic probation in any one of the following ways:

  • If she earns a cumulative Grade Point Average below 2.0 at the end of a semester
  • If she receives one ”F” in any course on her semester report card
  • If she receives two “D’s” in any of her courses on her semester report card

Progress Reports and Report Cards

Progress Reports are mailed to parents at six-week intervals stating the progress of their daughter in every class. In addition, parents and students may access attendance or grade status via the PowerSchool Student Information System using the confidential number provided by the Technology Office.  Progress grades represent the assessment of student work to date.  Only the semester grade is entered on the transcript and factored into the Grade Point Average.  Report Cards are mailed at the end of each semester.

Honor Roll

The Honor Roll is compiled at the end of each semester and is based on the semester average of classes excluding Physical Education.  First Honors student must have a semester Grade Point Average of 3.50 or above with no D, F or Incomplete grades.  A student earns Second Honors by achieving a semester Grade Point Average of 3.00 to 3.499 with no D, F or Incomplete grades.  Students involved in an incident of academic dishonesty will be eliminated from the honor roll in the semester in which the offense occurred.
