Philosophy

Notre Dame offers a wide variety of courses that teach the fundamentals of multimedia and computer applications within the context of a specific discipline. The courses develop creativity in computing and practical, hands-on experience.

The range of applications include all aspects of digital video and still photograhy design, development, and production. State-of-the-art desktop publishing systems are explored and utilized for publication of the yearbook and the school newspaper. Basic and advanced web designs are implemented using both GUI and programming tools.

After students explore programming in JAVA, independent study of advanced topics is available, from low level machine language to complex searching algorithms.

Notre Dame High School incorporates the tenets of its Technology Plan that encompasses a sound infrastructure and future oriented programs so that students can successfully develop the skills of expert thinking and complex communication.

Tools for Education

Computer Labs

Notre Dame supports over 115 desktop iMacs in two computer labs, library, science labs, media room, and individual classrooms. These systems are installed with a variety of software programs that enable students to word process, conduct research on the Internet, develop page layout for school publications, view science experiments, and conduct statistical analysis for Science and Math classes.

Mobile Lab

In addition to the desktop computers, the Technology Department maintains a fully equipped laptop mobile lab of MacBook laptops that are available for classroom use for research, projects, or presentations with multimedia projectors. Departments use SmartBoards, document cameras, multimedia projectors, and VCR/DVD equipment.

Language Lab

The World Languages Department utilizes the benefits of its language lab whereby students are well versed in language activities requiring speaking, reading, and listening in the target language.  In addition, the language lab is the perfect setting for the Advanced Placement examination.
