Frank Ryerson

Frank Ryerson was a teacher and a man of many passions who will live forever in the hearts of those who knew him. As a teacher, he taught his students how to live in the world, to serve the world, and to be a good person, no matter the circumstances. His students thrived under his instruction; they loved him, respected him, and trusted him.

Frank Ryerson seemed to be involved in every area of Notre Dame High School. He taught English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Photography, and Video Production. He began Tiger TV at Notre Dame, making it the only all-girls TV station in the Bay Area. Frank was Director of Student Activities and Student Council, bringing to life the most creative and dynamic student rallies that Notre Dame has ever known. Frank founded Culture Club, teaching etiquette and how to appreciate the finer things in life. Frank is famous for his Intersession trips to NYC, focusing on Broadway and the theater arts.

We are grateful to have known Frank and to have experienced his zealous and loving nature. We will continue to feel his spirit and to remember his goodness, his kindness to all, and his powerful impact. He will live on through the legacy he created.

In 2015, an anonymous donor created the Frank Ryerson Scholarship Fund, dedicated to a student applicant each year that consistently demonstrates faith, compassion, creativity, and integrity, both inside and outside of the classroom.
