KAIROS

Retreats

Retreats are an important part of faith development at Notre Dame. They give our students an opportunity to take a break and begin to recognize God’s goodness in the relationships they have with friends, family, and their community. We have many opportunities for our students to participate in a retreat experience.

Freshman Class Retreat

The goal of the Freshman Class Retreat is to give the participant an opportunity to take a look at who God has made her to be and how she is being called to radiate the goodness of God in her relationships with the community around her.

This retreat is designed and led by the Retreat Leadership Class, which is a senior Religion elective.

More information will be posted as the retreat date comes closer.

Sophomore Class Retreat

The goal of the Sophomore Class Retreat is to give the participant an opportunity to have a better understanding of the relationship she has with the other women in her class and how she can help foster a sisterhood of love and respect for each other.

This retreat is designed and led by the Retreat Leadership Class, which is a senior Religion elective.

More information will be posted as the retreat date comes closer.

Junior Class Retreat

In tandem with their fall Social Justice class, juniors participate (by religion class) in the service activities of St. Anthony Foundation in San Francisco. In the morning, students experience working in various outreach departments of the organization. At lunch, students enjoy lunch and conversation with other guests in the dining room. In the afternoon, the group will listen to a powerful guest speakers share their life journeys, as well as have time for discussion, prayer, and reflection.

Students will receive more information about their retreat day during the first week of school in August.

Senior Day of Reflection

Seniors are gathered at the end of their school year to take a look at where they've come, rejoice in where they are headed and reminded to enjoy the present moment.  The retreat is led by faculty and staff members who have made an impact on the seniors over the past four years at Notre Dame.

More information will be posted as the retreat date comes closer.

Kairos Retreat

Kairos is a powerful four day-three night optional retreat open to current juniors and seniors.  The term Kairos is a greek term that means  the right or opportune moment.   Through talks, small group discussions, prayer, and reflection, participants are given an opportune time to explore God's presence in their everyday life by taking a deeper look at themselves and their relationships.

The retreat is led by six seniors and supported by adult faculty and staff. The only way to really understand the experience is to participate. Many alumnae who have participated on Kairos say this is one of their standout memories of their time at Notre Dame.

Notre Dame Retreat Policy
Every student is required to attend and participate in her class level retreat each year. Students are notified of their retreat date in advance and attendance is required like a normal school day. Absences on retreat days are discouraged, but in the case of an absence, for example due to illness or family emergency, the student will be required to complete a make-up assignment. Details for specific retreats, including location, time frame, and transportation, are provided to students prior to each retreat. Students are excused from their classes on the day of their retreat, but are expected to plan ahead and make arrangements with their teachers to make up missed schoolwork.
