Dear Parents, Alumnae, Past Parents, and Friends of NDB:
Our goal is to provide each of our students with every opportunity to develop her individual talents. By thinking critically, deepening her spirituality, and building confidence she will conclude her NDB education as an adaptable self-learner who will be able to face the many challenges of college, career, and life with a positive attitude and a compassionate heart.
The comprehensive approach that we take in developing each young woman’s potential comes with a cost. We know that families make many choices, even sacrifices, to provide their daughter with an education at NDB.
In 2005 the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops wrote a treatise entitled “Renewing Our Commitment to Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools in the Third Millennium.” In this document they call on the entire community to support the efforts of Catholic schools.
"The future of Catholic school education depends on the entire Catholic community embracing wholeheartedly the concept of stewardship of time, talent, and treasure, and translating stewardship into concrete action."
Ever mindful of their stewardship responsibilities to God and the NDB community, our Board of Directors endeavors to manage tuition rates so as to provide access to a broad constituency that enriches every girl’s education. With these principles guiding their actions, the Board of Directors established a tuition rate this year which leaves a difference between the tuition charged and the actual cost of educating each student — $2,200.
Thus we are left with a goal of raising $775,000 in annual fund gifts. We ask all parents to help us achieve this goal by contributing a gift to NDB annually which is significant for their financial position. We also invite our alumnae, who were the beneficiaries of the Sisters of Notre Dame’s contributions to their education, past parents who celebrate the women their daughters have become, and the extended community who value NDB as an important educational choice to join us in the achievement of our goal of $775,000.
We are very grateful to our many supporters last year and invite you to consider renewing your support to perpetuate St. Julie Billiart’s and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur’s vision for providing this educational opportunity for generations of young women now and in the future.
May God bless you and your family.
Sincerely,
Rita Gleason ’66

Notre Dame students have inherited a legacy of generosity and service to others. From the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur who founded our school and paid for our buildings to be constructed, to the alumnae who contribute to scholarships in honor of their classmates, to the broader community who participate in various campus enhancement projects, the mission of NDB has been passed from generation to generation through a generous philanthropic spirit.
Developing young women to achieve their personal best in all that they do is at the core
of every program and decision at NDB.
Curriculum is reformulated as new
fields and professions emerge while maintaining St. Julie Billiart’s vision
of developing young women of
compassion and service.
Healthy annual funds are integral
components of every successful school. Programs
that define a Notre Dame education receive vital
support from the Annual Fund. Curricula that
challenge every student to think critically,
co-curricular activities that complement academic
pursuits, and extracurricular programs that develop
the potential of each individual, all receive support from the Annual Fund. Financial aid and scholarships provide access to a Notre Dame education for 25%
of our student body. Facilities, equipment and technology, faculty professional development and campus ministry programs are all supported by the Annual Fund. So, every gift impacts each and every young woman at NDB.
Support from our entire community
will ensure that NDB is here to serve future
generations of young women. Whether you are a current parent, alumna, or past parent, we ask you to join our board members, faculty, and staff in contributing to this year’s annual fund. Our grant requests will be more competitive and more likely to be successful with everyone’s participation.
Being generous is an individual decision and a spiritual act….every dollar from every donor makes a difference. During these economic times, we are all inundated with requests for support from a variety of charities. We hope that you will keep NDB at the top of your philanthropic list. Every gift is important, from $25 to $50,000. Through the generosity of our community we will reach our goal of $775,000 this year.

Outrights gifts can include checks, automatic payroll deductions, electronic fund transfers, or Visa and MasterCard. All cash gifts are fully tax deductible as allowed by law.
Transferring securities is easy and provides savings for appreciate stocks (no capital gains tax) and the deductibility of the gift for the calendar year when donated. To insure proper tax credit, timely acknowledgment, and accurate processing of your stock donation please contact the Director of Institutional Advancement for transfer information. Gifts of stock and other publicly traded securities will be valued at the mean of their market values on the date the donor relinquishes control of the securities. Neither losses nor gains realized by the sale of the securities after receipt, nor brokerage fees or other expenses associated with the transaction will affect the value recorded. The Notre Dame policy is to sell all gifted securities immediately upon receipt.
Gifts of non-marketable securities, shares in closely held corporations, partnership interests or restricted securities will be reviewed prior to acceptance to determine whether:
Real property can be deeded to Notre Dame. It is even possible to arrange a sizable tax deduction by deeding a home or farm to the school now, while continuing to occupy the property for life. All real estate transactions are subject to advance review by Notre Dame’s Gift Acceptance Committee. While the donor is still living, s/he has a legal interest in the life estate with full rights to live there or to rent or sell those rights. The donor continues to take care of the property, pay the taxes, and receive any income the property generates. The donor receives an immediate income tax deduction for the present value of the remainder interest of the residence. Any appreciated value of the property avoids capital gains taxation. Since the transfer occurs outside the donor’s will, it will not pass through probate.
Many employers participate in a matching gifts program as an employee benefit. This is a tremendous benefit that can double or sometimes even triple your gift to the school. Check with your human resources department for matching gift forms.
Gifts received in memory or in tribute to a loved one can be designated to any fund. Many donors contribute memorial gifts to the Alumnae Memorial Scholarship Fund which is an endowed fund. Gifts made in tribute or memorial will be recognized in the annual report under the honoree’s name.
Endowments to permanently memorialize someone and their values may be established with a minimum gift of $50,000 and the consent of the Gift Acceptance Committee.
