Student Leadership

A student speaks into a microphone at a podium

In middle school I was scared of running for student council, but now that I’m in this environment of sisterhood and I’m not afraid to speak, I have been on student council for two consecutive years.

I am not the most confident person but I try doing new things here. I am class president and I would have never done that at another school.

I love an all girls education because it means that there will be young women in every single leadership opportunity in the school.

Become a Leader.

NDB students are positive, articulate and confident leaders. At NDB, all activities and initiatives are student-driven. Leadership skills are developed through student government, campus ministry, athletics, and many extracurricular clubs and activities.

Cultivate Confidence. Find Your Voice.

Students develop a tremendous amount of confidence in realizing that they, as students, drive school activities. Research findings note that it’s beneficial and powerful for girls, in particular, “to see it in order to be it.” So when students see their peers leading a club, excelling in student government or succeeding on the robotics team, they get the clear message that they too can excel in those areas. Expressing oneself, sharing their unique perspective and using their voice becomes second nature. This is the power of an NDB education.

Leadership Roles

NDB offers over 200 leadership positions in student government, boards, and professional clubs and organizations. Roughly half of student leaders are elected into their roles by the student body while the other half are selected based upon an extensive application and interview process.

Associate Student Body (ASB) Officers

ASB is a group of dedicated student representatives who are elected by their peers to represent the student body. As the ultimate merri-makers and spokespeople on campus, ASB Officers plan and lead rallies, spirit days and school activities, ensuring the school year is fun and memorable for everyone. They participate in monthly spirit assemblies, manage monthly meetings with student council representatives and make daily morning and homeroom announcements.

Whether they are guiding prospective students and families on tours through the school or welcoming students on shadow days, the Ambassador Board loves NDB and illuminates why others should too!

Mock Trial

NDB students participate in a simulated criminal trial while playing the roles of witnesses who must know the facts of their witness statement, trial attorneys who must prepare direct and cross-examination questions, and pretrial attorneys who argue constitutional issues relevant to the trial and even the court bailiff.
