Social Science

The Social Science curriculum at Notre Dame is designed, first and foremost, to develop and enhance students’ critical thinking, writing, research, and public speaking skills. Historiographical thinking, world geography, and contemporary global issues are emphasized throughout the curriculum. Furthermore, by comparing past and present cultures, students demonstrate their understanding and appreciation for their roles as active participants in both local and global communities.  Drawing inspiration from the Hallmarks of a Notre Dame de Namur Learning Community, the Social Science Department educates for, and acts on behalf of justice and peace in the world.
