World Languages

The World Languages Department strives to equip our students with the communication skills required to thrive in our larger global community. Our professional and experienced instructors combine language instruction and cultural awareness to create a more real-world experience for our students. In accordance with Notre Dame’s Mission Statement and Hallmarks, we educate our students to be open-minded individuals who respect the dignity and diversity of the various cultures in our world. We use the latest in educational technology and teaching methodology to enhance the experience of every student and to empower them to confidently use the language beyond the walls of the classroom.

The World Languages Lab is a dedicated learning space equipped with DiLL Software. The lab is used to reinforce and expand language skills taught in the classroom. Teachers can hear the progression of students’ fluency and work individually with students as needed.  Students engage in  listening portions for chapter tests, speaking activities in which the students record themselves, preparation for AP language exams, and the delivery of AP exams in French, Spanish, and Chinese.
