Standardized Testing Information

Most 4-year colleges and universities require a standardized exam for freshman admission. Students should plan on taking these tests in the spring of their junior year and/or fall of their senior year. (See timeline below.)

Students can either take the SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) OR ACT (American College Test). Students are NOT required to take both.
SAT/ACT Comparison

To register for the ACT you must go to Register for ACT

To register for the SAT/SAT II exams you can go to Register for SAT

SAT II Subject Exams

Not all colleges ask for subject exams. You must refer to the individual college website to check for subject exam requirements.

Advanced Placement Exams

AP Exams are administered each year at NDB in the first two weeks of May for students who have completed or will complete AP courses by the end of the academic year.

A score of 3, 4, or 5 can allow students to earn college credit towards their degree. Check with the colleges you are interested in for more information.

Students at NDB will register for AP exams at Notre Dame through the College Counseling Department.
