A native of San Carlos and a member of the class of 2001 (the Purple Dragons), Ms. Barile received her B.A. in cultural anthropology from Reed College and M.S. from Long Island University, Brooklyn. In college she focused on the intersection between the French anti-globalization movement and Muslim immigrant activism. In New York, Ms. Barile taught at several progressive public schools and Long Island University. She has also taught abroad, been involved in community organizing, and worked on issues of educational justice. Ms. Barile is excited to begin her 2nd year back at NDB. Ms. Barile loves the way students are empowered to speak up and be themselves at NDB, and the school’s commitment to teaching for social justice. She also serves as Sophomore Class coordinator.
