The Athletics Hall of Fame is organized for the purpose of recognizing the rich tradition of athletic success at Notre Dame Belmont High School. It serves as a means of honoring and recognizing the athletes, teams, students, coaches, and supporters who made significant contributions to the Tiger tradition of excellence. Induction events occur every two years.

2026 Hall of Fame Class

Jena Cappel, Rowing, 1998

Leah DeMarchena Davenport, Cross Country, Track & Field, 2002

Leah is one of the most accomplished runners in Notre Dame history and continues to hold multiple school records. She was the first individual qualifier from NDB to advance to the State Cross Country Meet and remains the school record holder at Crystal Springs. As the No. 1 runner on NDB’s only cross country team to qualify for State, she earned All–NorCal, All–CCS, and All–GPSL honors, and qualified for the State Meet in three consecutive seasons.

Leah was also a dominant force in track and field. She still holds the school record in the 800 meters and advanced to the CCS semifinals. Additionally, she owns the second-fastest times in school history in both the 1,600 meters—advancing to the NorCal Finals—and the 3,200 meters. Beyond the track, Leah was also a key contributor on the basketball court, helping NDB defeat SHC and SI during a strong GPSL run.

Marcos Lomeli, Basketball Coach, 1993-2000

Marcos took over the basketball program after consecutive losing seasons and, within four years, led the team to its first CCS basketball championship. During his tenure, he won two CCS titles and was named GPSL Coach of the Year in 1997. A demanding yet deeply supportive coach, Marcos consistently showed up for his athletes—driving team vans, supporting other teams, and stepping in wherever needed.

Beyond basketball, he helped launch and coach multiple sports, co-created community outreach programs and girls’ basketball tournaments that brought hundreds of prospective students to campus, and strengthened the reputation of Notre Dame athletics. Marcos also found his calling as an educator, earning his teaching credential while coaching and later joining the Notre Dame faculty as a Spanish teacher. Even after moving to the Sacramento area, he continued coaching multiple sports.

Trudy Muller, Tennis, 1992

Trudy played No. 1 singles tennis at Notre Dame for all four years. She led the team to the CCS championships, where she won the CCS singles title, served as team captain, and was recognized as one of the top high school tennis players of her time. After Notre Dame, she continued her tennis career at Dartmouth, helping the team place second in the Ivy League. By her senior year, she was named team captain.

2015 State Volleyball Team

This team represents Notre Dame’s only State Championship in school history. After finishing as runners-up in the NorCal Finals in both 2010 and 2014, the Tigers entered the 2015 season with a clear sense of unfinished business. Throughout the postseason, the team demonstrated resilience, focus, and determination, culminating in a decisive victory over No. 2–ranked Marin Catholic to advance to the State Finals. In the championship match, the Tigers never looked back, delivering a dominant 3–0 win over Laguna Blanca of Santa Barbara to capture the Division IV State Championship. The team finished the season with an impressive 31–10 record, marking one of the most successful seasons in Notre Dame athletics history. Several players from this championship roster went on to continue their careers at the collegiate level, further cementing the legacy of this historic team.

2024 Inaugural Hall of Fame Class

Loren Gualco-Coleman, Basketball, Volleyball, Track and Field, 1997

Loren was team MVP and all league selection for basketball during all four years at NDB. She still holds the record for most points, rebounds and blocks in a single season and game. Loren was also a standout high jumper who qualified for State and held the school record until 2023. She won CCS Titles in both Volleyball and Basketball before continuing her athletic career at Cal State Fullerton.

Chioma Igwe, Soccer, 2004

Chioma Igwe, Soccer, 2004

Chioma was the WCAL Player of the Year and First Team Selection in 2004. She won two CCS Championships and one WCAL title while at NDB. After NDB, she competed at Santa Clara University and California Berkeley. Chioma has played for many U.S. national teams and played in over 130 international professional games. In 2017, she was inducted into the Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame.

Bill Harke, NDB Athletic Director from 1993 to 1997

Katie Smoot, Volleyball, 2017

Katie was an integral part of the CIF State volleyball championship team, NDB's first state championship in volleyball. She was team MVP all four years on varsity, while also racking up three all-league selections while at NDB. She was named the Bay Area Player of the Year her senior year, as well as Under Armour honorable mention and ranked #63 nationally by prep volleyball. She was named an Allstate performer as a senior as well as an all-region selection and regional MVP. After her time at NDB, Katie continued her volleyball career at the University of Arizona and then UC Berkeley. She was named Pac-12 player of the week, Pac-12 honorable mention and led the Cal volleyball team in kills her senior year.

Sheila Langrock, Softball, 1977

Sheila played varsity softball as a fast pitch pitcher all four years at NDB. She pitched their way to the CCS championships in 1977 after throwing a no hitter against Willow Glen in the semifinals. During that year, she compiled a 15-3 record (9-0) in league play and had an E.R.A of 0.60 striking out 110 in 92.6 innings. She led the team in batting with a .501 average, runs scored, singles and doubles. She was named to the 1977 League All-Star team, was voted the school’s “Athlete of the Year” and was selected as a High School All Star by WomenSports Magazine. She was invited to try out for the international women’s professional softball team the San Jose Sunbirds. Sheila also pitched for an all-star team that toured Taiwan. During her four years at NDB, she played on the Volleyball team and played center half on AYSO & CYSA soccer teams. Sheila received one of the first women’s athletic scholarships to CAL Poly SLO in 1978 and was awarded “The coaches award” in 1979. She is currently ranked eighth in program history with thirty eight victories and seventh in career shutouts.

2004 Soccer Team

The 2004 varsity soccer team were the West Catholic Athletic League (WCAL) and Central Coast Section (CCS) outright champions. Not only did they have the Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year on the team, they had 8 players that earned WCAL First and Second team All-league recognition. Seventeen of the players on this team won back-to-back CCS championships and eleven players went on to play intercollegiate soccer.
