Emmy® Award Winning Producer Gabriela Dematteis '09 Visits Tiger TV Studio Where Her Career Began

Notre Dame Belmont (NDB) welcomed home Emmy® Award Winning Producer Gabriela (Gabby) Dematteis '09 this week. Gabby visited journalism class and the Tiger TV studio where her interest in production began! 

"My Tiger TV classes at Notre Dame really inspired me to pursue film and television production as my major in college," Gabby shared. "Were it not for those courses and the enjoyment and experimentation I had in them, I don’t think I would have thought that I could pursue those studies as my major, let alone my career."

When we asked Gabby how an NDB education prepared her for her career, she shared, "I am grateful for my Notre Dame education because I feel like it prepared me to hold space as a woman in the world. So many times, we, as women, are told to make ourselves smaller or to diminish our light to make others feel more comfortable, but my Notre Dame education prepared me to show up as my full self and to speak up for myself whenever necessary. This education was especially important while entering into my career in film and television which is predominantly filled with men."

We are incredibly grateful that Gabby returned home to NDB to visit and inspire our current students. Once a Tiger, always a Tiger!
