  • Events and Activities

This week Notre Dame Belmont (NDB) celebrated Foundress Week! Founded in 1851 and sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, NDB is dedicated to the educational mission of St. Julie Billiart. This week there were several activities and events on campus to celebrate the history of NDB and the lineage of Sisters of Notre Dame.

The week kicked off with a Foundress Day Mass honoring Sister Dorothy Stang, a missionary who fought for the rights of the Amazon rainforest and its indigenous people. Freshman Dance students encompassed Sister Dorothy's playful spirit by dancing beautiful potted plants into mass. Following, many students shared readings centered around the environment and a deep commitment to service.

Throughout the week there were several fun activities to continue the celebration including planting herbs and spices and decorating sunflower cookies.

With our 101st class graduating this spring, we are incredibly grateful for the lineage of women who have come before us. Go Tigers!
