NDB Journalists Win County Courtroom Competition

Mock Trial Journalists
  • Academics

Notre Dame Belmont (NDB) is incredibly proud of Page Krensavage, Editor in Chief, and Allison Wright, Online Managing Editor, of The Catalyst student newspaper who won the County Courtroom Journalist Competition and will advance to the Mock Trial State Finals this year. Each county only picks to representatives to go to the Mock Trial State Finals and this year BOTH are from NDB! Go Tigers!

Page and Allison sat in on NDB's Mock Trial prosecution where NDB took on Carlmont in the mock trial case People v. Fromholz (a creative mock murder by poisoning on a reality T.V. show) to take thorough notes and quotes from participants.

Their articles about the trial were submitted to the San Mateo County Mock Trial coordinator, who passed it on to the judges. Upon founding out that they WON the competition, Page shared, “I was really shocked and also very thrilled. It was a lot of hard work that was put into it because we had to combat such a fast deadline. We didn’t have that much time to write. But I’m just really proud of myself and also of Allison because we really came together and worked together.”

Teacher Jonathan Tomczak shared, “I’m very proud of both of our winners. They wrote incredible articles. They’re talented journalists and they have demonstrated that once again and they’re going to do it one more time at States in March.”

We look forward to cheering on Page and Allison at State Finals!
