NDB Students Lead with Purpose Through Inaugural Buckets For Her Tournament

Notre Dame Belmont (NDB) proudly celebrates rising junior students Olivia Eck, Vanessa Gonzales and Lorea Melander for bringing their vision of leadership and service to life through the inaugural Buckets For Her basketball tournament.

 

The student-led event, created to raise funds for the UPBasketball Youth Charitable Foundation, welcomed 12 girls of all basketball experience levels for an evening of friendly 2v2 competition, confidence-building and community. Inspired by the desire to create a more welcoming space for girls in sports, the trio planned every aspect of the tournament—from organizing prizes and creating an environment where participants felt encouraged to step onto the court, many for the very first time.

 

The event was met with an enthusiastic response from players and families, who appreciated the inclusive atmosphere and opportunity for girls to connect through basketball.

 

Olivia, Vanessa and Lorea exemplify Notre Dame Belmont's commitment to educating young women who lead with confidence, compassion and a spirit of service. Their initiative reflects the values of an NDB education by using leadership to create meaningful opportunities for others and make a positive impact in our community. We are incredibly proud!
