Students Compete in AP Biology Water Mystery Challenge

AP Bio students pour water down a string
  • Academics

In AP Biology this week, scientists competed in the Water Mystery Challenge. Each team chose an experiment to demonstrate and then created a tutorial video to explain how and why water interacts in such mysterious ways. Why do oil and water not mix? How can water travel along a string from one container to another? While the main answer is "because water is polar" there's more to each explanation. Cohesion, adhesion, density, polarity, temperature, pressure and more play a role in making water a most magical substance that sustains life! Great job, NDB scientists!
